Have you been needing to get out of the house? Do you need to take a break from things and enjoy some family time? How about a staycation? Here are my tips for the perfect family staycation in Frisco, Texas!

Family Staycation in Frisco, Texas

One thing I love about Texas and the Dallas-Fort Worth area is that it is HUGE! Even though I have traveled to every major city in Texas, there is so much I still haven’t seen. So with everything going on in the world, I decided it was very much needed for my family to get away, unplug from the world, and just enjoy each other.

I know what many of yall are thinking..what about coronavirus? Well, that thought definitely came to mind and was something we discussed before taking the plunge, so that’s why we opted for a staycation close to home. It made us feel safer knowing that we could enjoy a mini family vacation without hopping on a plane and being in a large tourist destination with tons of people.

So for our staycation, we packed our bags and traveled 30 minutes north of Dallas to Frisco, Texas. Frisco is an amazing suburb outside of Dallas that we had yet to venture out to. It was such an amazing experience to feel like tourists in a city that is literally a stone throw away from us.

So if you’re ever looking for a local DFW staycation or just somewhere to visit, here is my list for places to stay, things to do, & food to eat in FRISCO.

Where to stay & what to eat/do in Frisco

During our staycation we stayed at this cute boutique style hotel and loved every minute of it! From the super friendly staff to the extra precautions the hotel took to ensure our safety made our hotel stay that much better.

The Sheraton Stonebriar also offers a “Local Residents Rate” throughout the Summer for those within the drive-in market to get away for the weekend. Not only do you get a low rate, but at check-in, you receive a “Savor Stonebriar” post-card with negotiated offers to restaurants and attractions in the area including Cantina Laredo, Silver Fox Steak House, Global Peace Coffee House, Sakura Sushi, TopGolf Colony and more!

The Shops at Legacy

Technically this place is in “Plano” but, it’s right down the street from the Sheraton Stonebriar, not even a 5-minute drive. This place has tons of shopping and eateries to choose from. I definitely recommend checking out Legacy Food Hall that hosts over 20 amazing restaurants and bars inside!

Cantina Laredo

Catina Laredo has some amazing Mexican food! Josh loves Mexican food so I always try to find a great place to take him. Well, this is that great place. The drinks are strong and the food is tasty and the service is out of this world.

We went to the Frisco location, right next to our hotel, however, there are many locations in the DFW area!

One of the newer places to take you child (between the ages of 6-14) in the DFW area. A city built for kids and run by kids. KidZania allows your child to explore a fully functional city independently and role-play different professions. Kids take on different professions, learn about their roles, put on a uniform, start earning and spending kidZos, while learning and having fun! It has over 100 hands-on role-playing activities and a range of difficulties to meet the needs and abilities of all children!

*for younger siblings 5 and under, there is a play area designated for them*

If you come around baseball season, this is a must! The Frisco RoughRiders are a minor league baseball team that play at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark. A great activity that the whole family will enjoy!

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

For my outdoorsy people, this one is for you! Arbor Hills Nature preserve is a scenic area with miles of trails both paved and unpaved for walking, hiking, and biking. Enjoy some breathtaking views, scenery, and wildlife from dawn to dusk!
